Having recently completed her PhD investigating the impact of climate change on African rainfall, Rachel James is a climatologist at Oxford University, interested in the application of science to help solve real-world problems. How can scientists develop their research to be more useful for climate change adaptation and mitigation? How can we improve understanding of climate science by policy-makers, journalists, and the public? And does it matter?
